The social media is getting uproar after SkinnyIndonesia24 released its new youtube contents “DPR Musical”, which aired for the first time on 2nd May 2021. Produced by Da Lopez Entertainment and Jovial da Lopes, DPR Musical hit the trend by generating over 4,4 Million Viewers only 8 days after it got published. Receiving tons of positive reactions from the publics, the content was also ranked on the #12 Youtube Indonesia trending in the first two week. A-MA-ZING!
This musical drama tells about a new joining house of representative (DPR) member named Mawar who tried to push the verification of the environment protection bill. As the show highlights critical issues happening in Indonesia politics nowadays, the creative touch of the narration gives the messages even more powerful. Starting from corrupted regulation procedure to the normalized bad work ethics were all discussed in a very entertaining manner. This way, SkinnyIndonesia24 has proved once again that their creative contents can be utilized to voice what matters, that their platform is the voice for the voiceless. SALUTE!
As it stated from DPR Musical’s Instagram, the creative process of this production has been started since 21st October 2020. Whoaaaa It’s such a long process, but all the good things do not happen in a blink of an eye right? During the story writing process, they admitted there are so many ideas flowing in and out that require them to fixate the structure they think is the best.
How about the musical part? The music was created by Myst Deisanto, while Sandy Oey is in charged on the choreography. It only took 3 days of music workshops in Lembang. Productivity at its best right?
The success of DPR Musical didn’t rely on narrative storytelling backed with beautiful dance and easy listening music only. All of the main cast presented strong character personas. Dwina Win played a role as a young, bright, and idealistic politician called Mawar who aspired to transform the corrupted political system. She opened the show with Mengubah Indonesia song theme to illustrate the optimism in developing a better Indonesia.
The optimism goes down as the conflict arises when Mawar met her colleagues in the very first Paripurna Meeting. She argued with Januari (cast: Andovi da Lopez), Angel (cast: Kezia Lathenia), and Luki (cast: Axel CJ) as the representatives of the most influential political parties in Senayan. A beautiful and entertaining music of Persetan Rakyat was inserted during the conversation, emphasizing the ugly political system that has been taken for granted by the whole members.
The show also describes the long journey in bringing social justice to the corrupted system by inducing the conflict to a higher level. Novan (Cast: Jovial Da Lopez), a well educated and ambitious politician who started his career from nothing and now sits on the highest position in the parliament, used his power to slap Mawar by saying that all her effort would be meaningless. At the end of the day, people won’t care at all about the substantial topics like the environmental crisis. Manusia Setengah Dewa soaring the hidden and yet widely accepted norms behind this rotten political system.
Pilihan Rakyat as the closing is very powerful in encouraging us to start taking action and fix this system before it gets too late. We admitted that from scene to scene, every single part and dialogues are very well managed, and it has successfully triggered us that this messy political system is part of our responsibility too.
